Ancient History

ancient history

noun [ mass noun ]

the history of the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean area and the Near East up to the fall of the Western Roman Empire in ad 476.

• informal: something that is already long familiar and no longer new, interesting, or relevant: the New Wave is ancient history now.

Ancient History is a shockingly fun class. I saw that it focused on Biblical history and mentally prepared myself for 3 stupefying hours a week of church fathers. But we actually have HISTORY! I got to learn a bit about ancient patriarchal culture and households, which was fascinating. (No really, it was awesome. ) And granted, the class is mostly bible– and most of it I know already– but with the teacher, even the theology is interesting!
