Reading

I read a lot.

I also make self-evident statements a lot, and if you know me at all you know how much of the latter the former sentence was.

Since age seven I’ve spent an average an hour every day reading, with times in my life pushing four or five hours a day. And yes, that is every day for years. (Not counting school reading.)  However, it wasn’t until I was twenty or so that I started making a serious effort to notice and think about what I read. Strangely enough, that effort coincided with the volume of my reading falling. (Whether that is because of the thinking or because my life got busier at age twenty is a decision I still haven’t made.) I’ll still read a novel at a sitting, but I won’t necessarily read a novel every day.

Anyways, that’s the background to this tab. I read a lot, and now I try to think about and talk about the reading.
